Bloodborne PS5 Remaster: Leaks, Rumours, and News

One of the best PlayStation 4 games ever is likely Bloodborne. FromSoftware’s Bloodborne was a classic PlayStation 4 game that drew heavily from its predecessors in the Souls series while still standing on its own. When it was released in 2015, critics praised its exceptional world design and extreme difficulty.

Many gamers believe that it is critical to update older games. Even if the newer platforms are excellent, it takes longer for gamers to access exclusive next-gen titles because of longer development durations. So, a great way to pass the time between new releases is by playing eighth-generation oldies on the PlayStation 5. Many people believed Bloodborne wouldn’t be too far behind when Demon’s Souls was updated for the new PlayStation 5, but Bloodborne hasn’t yet been fortunate enough to receive the next-gen boost.

So, why is this? Why hasn’t Sony benefited from Bloodborne’s enduring success? How probable is it that we will get a Bloodborne 4K 60fps update or, even better, a Bloodborne PS5 remake? Have we heard any new rumours or news in 2023?

First, let’s talk a bit about the game itself.

The Legacy of Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a game that you should play if you haven’t already, especially if you liked the remake of Demon’s Souls and Elden Ring, two more recent Soulsborne titles. Players take the title of “Hunter” in the role-playing game Bloodborne.

The Hunter awakens on the night of The Hunt in the surreal Gothic city of Yharnam. A strange blood illness has devastated Yharnam, which is also affected by it. Unknown to what caused the illness, which has turned the population into ferocious monsters, Throughout The Hunt, you will encounter horrific Lovecraftian-style horrors like enormous, deformed beasts and unsettling celestial entities as you battle your way through the city of Yharnam.

As a PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne was launched in March 2015. One of the best video games ever, it was a commercial triumph for its publisher Sony. FromSoftware created it and, as previously said, is regarded as a part of the larger Soulsborne series.

Can You Play Bloodborne on the PS5?

It’s important to address one straightforward question before discussing a potential Bloodborne remake or 4K 60fps improvement. Can you use a PS5 to play Bloodborne? Most PS4 games are playable on the PlayStation 5 thanks to backward compatibility. Bloodborne is among them. The PlayStation Plus Collection, available only for the PS5, included it and some of the most well-known last-gen games.

Does Bloodborne 4K 60fps Run on PS5?

An acclaimed PS4 exclusive game like Bloodborne might be expected to operate at 60fps on Sony’s newest machine, thanks to the Game Boost function. That’s not the case, regrettably. Bloodborne is backward compatible and playable on the PS5, although it hasn’t been improved. It is set at 30 frames per second, just like on the PS4. On the PS5, it only hits 1080p in terms of resolution. Thus, there is no benefit to playing Bloodborne on the PlayStation 5.

Some games with unlocked frame rates can automatically run at 60 frames per second because of the PS5’s enhanced capabilities. However, individuals who have locked frame rates require a big patch to reach anything above their cap. This group includes the game Bloodborne. This means that it would either require a specialized 4K 60fps patch or a complete remake. Of course, the first option would be much simpler.

How Likely Is a Bloodborne Upgrade?

It’s quite unlikely that Bloodborne will be upgraded to 4K 60fps. Neither Sony nor FromSoftware has made any public announcements. You’d think they’d have already announced an upgrade if it was about to be released, especially with all the fan speculation. However, many unfounded rumors exist concerning a Bloodborne 4K 60fps PS5 upgrade or remaster.

Fans still hold out hope that a Bloodborne PS5 update is forthcoming. For instance, there have been rumors that Bluepoint, who just became a part of Sony and worked on the PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls, is now developing several Bloodborne-related projects. However, unless something is formally confirmed, it is all just conjecture. We should all keep our fingers crossed.

So, Bloodborne on PS5 doesn’t operate at 60 frames per second. It’s 30 frames per second locked, like many PS4 games. There is no announcement of the release date or confirmation for a PS5 upgrade to increase its 4K 60fps capability. If one is in the works, it’s probably a long way off because there hasn’t been any official confirmation.

But those who want to return to Yharnam can do so on the PS5. They’ll have to settle for 1080p at 30 frames per second.

The rumours around a remastered version of Bloodborne have been rumbling for some time now. Have we heard anything new in 2023?

The short answer is … maybe?

According to the Gaming Leaks subreddit, a Bloodborne remaster could be in the works, but not until 2025. Given the other titles that FromSoftware has been working on, this isn’t necessarily a surprise. It’s worth remembering that this isn’t official news, and leaks are always worth taking with a pinch of salt.

Still, it seems that gamers might finally get Bloodborne remastered, as the fan appetite for it is certainly there. Bloodborne fans just might have a long wait for it

In Conclusion…

A Bloodborne remake may be in the works and given the popularity of the Demon’s Souls remake and the September release of The Last of Us Part I. Commercially, it makes sense. But until Sony comments on it, we won’t be able to be certain. Besides, they have not yet mentioned a Bloodborne PS5 remake.
