Interview

Could you please start with a simple self-introduction?

After contributing to the development of Monster Hunter at Capcom, I worked as a freelance artist.

Since then, I’ve received several offers to work as digital artist from various game companies, animation production companies, and publishing houses, both domestically and abroad.

In 2015, I became a freelancer and established Villard in March 2017.

Why did you choose the tiger and dragon for your work this time?

Rugged and rough things are attractive to me. An unfinished atmosphere also appeals to me, so I often use it as a motif.

What was enjoyable or challenging about doing the work this time?

To increase the sense of realism, I made the head of the lion smaller to adjust the balance between its head and body. It is actually more realistic to have a smaller head than a larger one.

Where do you get inspiration from?

As a matter of fact, negative reviews inspire me more than positive ones.  I am inspired to create better works as a result of them and appreciate them deeply.

Who is your favorite artist?

I don’t have a favourite artist in particular. I prefer to have themes as inspiration.

For example: Alien civilizations are interesting to me. I think many creators like them as well.

What is your future outlook, and what would you like to challenge?

I want to keep sending my art out to the world, regardless of the country or region, and I hope that as many people as possible will see them. Also, I want to continue to be active globally in the future.

What software did you use this time?

I used ZBrush for the lion, and ZBrush and Keyshot for the dragon.
